Freedom Techniques
EFT,
or Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a way of working with the bodies' natural
energy system. It is based on the same principles as Acupuncture or Acupressure,
a way of working that has been in use for thousands of years. EFT is also
based on exciting discoveries about the way the body's energy system works.
The idea behind EFT is that negative events, experiences or memories disrupt
the energy system. By focusing on a problem while tapping with the fingers
on specific meridian points around the head and upper body, the disruption
to the energy system can be resolved and the problem cleared. The technique
can also be very effective with physical problems, and any emotional roots
or consequences of physical problems. EFT may seem a very simple technique,
and it can be used effectively as a self - help tool, but it can also be
used in a richly complex way with problems that may be persistent.
I teach most of my clients how to use EFT, it is easy to learn and is an
invaluable strategy for helping manage problems as they arise. I find EFT
to be a particularly effective way of clearing negative feelings associated
with traumatic or painful memories, and with the more complex symptoms of
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
